My almost 7 month old puppy, Riley, HATES getting his nails cut! Today I broke down & put a muzzle on him. I was able to get almost all of his nails cut. Although I'm completely exhausted now, I do feel a sense of accomplishment. I was ready to take him to a groomer, which I've done before.
I've had almost 30 foster dogs & have never had a problem doing nails before. Riley squirms, shrieks & nips at the clipper. Today he started nipping at me, hence the muzzle. Safety first! He eventually just gave up, laid on the floor & let me clip away.
The past month I've been clipping 1 or 2 nails at a time in hopes of "getting him used to it." No such luck!
Riley is happily devouring a Busy Bone in his kennel now (with shorter nails).
